CLUBNIGHT PROGRAMME

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMME

Wednesday 6 August : Dam(n) the Mokihinui?

FMC executive member Quentin Duthie will present a slide show about his recent rafting trip down the Mokihinui river in the Buller district, and the campaign of the Forest and Bird, FMC and the Greens to save the river from Meridian Energy's dam. A member of VUWTC and NZAC, a prodigious hut-bagger, an MSC instructor, as well as passionate tramper and conservationist, Quentin has just joined the FMC executive, so this is a chance to introduce himself to the club and get some feedback on FMC's advocacy work.

Wednesday 13 August : Life on the Ocean Waves.

Twelve TTC club members enjoyed eight days sailing, tramping, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming and singing their way around the Fiordland Sounds and Stewart Island in early May on the ‘Breaksea Girl’. TTC President Chris Munn will present a talk on their trip.

Wednesday 20 August : Baine-Iti Hut.

For the second week in a row we will be entertained by a Tararua Tramping Club member. TTC life member Ian Baine will talk about the history of Baine-Iti Hut in the Orongorongos. The hut was built by his father and Ian continues to maintain it. It is the only public hut in the park.

Wednesday 27 August : Everest Base Camp.

In May, six members of the HVTC made it to Everest Base Camp. Chief Guide Don Herron will talk about the trip and show the best of his more than 1000 pictures.
